WOW! The Summer is heating up fast and so are the youth cooking classes. Culinary Kids and Cookie Campers have been taking a culinary trip around the world this summer, visiting such countries as Greece, France, Mexico and of course the good ol’ U.S.A. We’ve been learning all about the culture and cuisine of a different country each week and making something delicious to eat! The scope of our students “food imaginations” have hopefully been expanded as new foods have been introduced and as they learn to embrace and enjoy the amazing variety our world has to offer. Who knew that Feta cheese was so good in a Greek Chopped Salad?! Or that Key Lime Pies originated in Key West, Florida?! Our students do!
Open Sewing classes every Thursday from 3pm -5pm. Come and join us!

Summer is off to a great start in the kitchen at The Finishing School. Our young Chefs
are creating delicious, creative dishes and learning basic cooking skills as they prepare a
new recipe each week.
Bree Strong our cooking director has created an exciting summer program, with all new
recipes and a strong basic program of cooking methods and techniques. We believe that
learning these cooking skills at an early age will provide a foundation for good eating
habits and a love for cooking
Oatmeal Pancakes with Wild Blueberry Sauce was a big hit combined with a lesson on
“Why eat breakfast?” Valuable information to help our students understand the
importance of a eating regular meals and having a balanced diet.
Our next selection was Baked Potato soup for a nutritious warm meal using yummy
ingredients familiar to our students and a very thrifty choice. The same day we reviewed
knife skills and safety in the kitchen.
We also welcome back Paige Nelson to our school and to our kitchen where she will be
teaching our cooking classes this summer. Paige adds the French “flare” to our program
with her experience in French and international cuisine. We are so excited to have her
with us again.
We’re lovin the summer and all our “Young Chefs” as we cook and bake yummy things
in the kitchen.
The Finishing School is proud to present BAZAAR our own unique Blog featuring all the wonderful happenings at The Finishing School. We’ll be sharing with you articles about our students and the amazing things the girls are sewing and cooking.
Our Summer Sign-up for classes begins April 1st. Please go to Tuition on the Home Page and email or call us with names, day and time selection
We’re making skirts and bags in bright spring colors and prints and the girls are designing “Turning Twenty” quilts that will become forever keepsakes. The girls spill thru the front door of our fun “turn of the century home” excited to sew and create something wonderful they can wear or give. It’s a definite confidence builder.
The kitchen entices us with the aroma of potato soup garnished with crispy bacon and cheesy pasta and vegetables. Our adorable Cookie Camp is crazy with chocolate in every possible sweet treat and our junior “chefs” are chopping and stirring and spreading, learning the basics of a skill that will last them a lifetime.
We’ll feature new projects and recipes and great ideas that our staff comes up with to give you many, many more things to love.
